Informazioni

The Frasassi Caves complex, located within the Marche Apennines, is one of the most grandiose and fascinating underground paths in the world.

It is an unspoiled, hidden, and beautiful environment, composed of evocative spaces rich in extraordinary formations. It is a complete underground ecosystem where it is still possible to observe the formation of stalactites and stalagmites, with drops of water that carve and construct their own architectures, and where life has continued undisturbed for millions of years.

With its gigantic dimensions and transparent formations resembling crystal arabesques reflecting in fairy-tale lakes, the magic of the Frasassi Caves can be described in just a few words. The total length of the Frasassi Caves is estimated at 30 kilometers, and its largest area, the Ancona Abyss, has a volume of about 1,000,000 cubic meters, with a height of 240 meters. As the guides remind us, it could even accommodate the Duomo di Milano.

The dimensions of the formations are equally impressive: notable are the Giants, the gigantic stalagmites that rise 20 meters high in the Ancona Abyss, and the enormous 15-meter stalagmite standing at the center of the Obelisk Hall. The fantastic world of the caves also captivates visitors with the spectacle of the Organ Pipes in the Canyon, the magical scene of the Candles reflecting on a pond of crystal-clear water, and numerous halls that unfold before our eyes along the evocative path.

Guided Tours

The section reserved for guided tours is equipped and easily accessible for everyone, including seniors and accompanied children, ensuring complete safety. It features a path of about 1.5 km that takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete. Guided tours are also scheduled in English, German, and French.

By reservation, a Photo Tour is available: a path designed for photographers, photography enthusiasts, bloggers, Instagrammers, and mobile photography lovers, allowing them to capture some of the most picturesque corners of the tourist route with their own equipment.

More experienced and passionate visitors can choose between two adventure caving paths of varying difficulty levels: the Blue Adventure Path, which has a medium/low difficulty level and lasts about 2 hours, is also available for children aged 12 and older. The Red Adventure Path, with medium difficulty and a duration of about 3 hours, is recommended for those who have already completed the Blue Adventure Path.

The Frasassi Caves are open every day, except for December 4th and 25th, and from January 10th to 30th for biological rest.
