Located in the countryside of Acquaviva delle Fonti, in an area once dominated by immense forests and now characterized by a priority habitat for conservation for the European Union, the Curtomartino Cave is one of the many gems of our territory that remains relatively unknown. Nature and history meet at Curtomartino, in a unique place rich in charm and inspiration.
The ancient forest, of which only a few isolated oak specimens remain today, has given way to a new, semi-natural landscape that is just as rich in life.
Brilliant grasses, aromatic herbs, and carpets of orchids alternate throughout the seasons outside the cave, saturating the air with intoxicating scents, coloring the surrounding landscape with ever-new shades, and guiding visitors through a complete sensory experience. This unique journey begins with the origins of the world and traverses the fundamental stages of human history.

Visiting the cave is like reading a book made of stone, where nature has described its creation. However, the Curtomartino Cave is not just an extraordinary example of karst phenomena, rich in sparkling concretions, powerful columns, stalactites, and stalagmites that adorn it like a small cathedral of rock; it is much more: it is a site of significant archaeological interest that has yielded important evidence of human presence during the Upper Paleolithic period, a time of remarkable evolutionary and cultural development.
A considerable number of artifacts discovered during the excavations, typical of this historical period, are framed by linear graphisms and zoomorphic drawings that constitute a complex of parietal and movable art of great importance.
